Soumik Das
writes what he sings.
Original songs, poetry, documentaries and speeches — carried by satellite TV and FM radio across Bengal, and produced out of his own studios in Kolkata for clients across Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangladesh.
Born into radio, self-taught into song.
Born in 1982 into a musical family whose ancestors were mostly radio artists of their time, Soumik picked up the classical guitar and, from the very first day of his musical journey, was absolutely focused on writing and composing his own material — never covers.
He has no formal degree in music. What he holds instead is a Doctorate in Computer Engineering from Jadavpur University, and a day job as Vice Principal at an engineering college. Music runs alongside the classroom, not instead of it.
Beyond songwriting, Soumik writes and recites poetry, and produces original documentaries, speeches and short films. He also owns professional audio/visual studios in Kolkata, where he handles arrangement, production, programming, and mixing-mastering for channels and clients across Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangladesh and Singapore.
